Reflections on Consciousness: birthing thought
Can we define Consciousness? How do we define something that IS all that IS? From our perspective it is the ultimate paradox. There is nothing there and yet it is everything. It is the infinite and the same time it can express an individual being. An individual blade of grass. An infinite cosmos within the multi-verse of creation.
We are conscious beings. We are self-aware. We interact with others who are self-aware, in an environment functioning as a stage set to those interactions. And as those backdrops are an aspect of Consciousness, then at some level of creation they must be conscious.
What is a thought, which exists as part of Consciousness? How does the thought originate? We witness them every moment. Behind the scenes they run our bodies – breath, heart, movements, all those things that we take for granted. Each is continually being manifested from Consciousness, into our own little aspect of that which is.
How often have we taken the time to consider the origin of a thought? They are the most overlooked wonder within creation. And amazingly, they permit us to interact and to understand someone else, who is also “creating” thoughts. They just appear. They are just there. We say “that’s just the way things are”. That is normal life. But how?
We say we are thinking, but what does that really mean? Or, I have this thought, this idea. We train our minds, we remember, we understand. Some people better than others retaining vast amounts of information. Do they have a “better” mind? We say so. Information exists in the mind. But then what is the mind? If one is still, is it possible to internally locate where memory resides? We access it to think, and somehow it just happens – thought is “there”. But where?
Consciousness is the life of the universe, of creation. Consciousness is all – creates all. What we take as mind exists within that creation – simultaneously There, and not There. “Nothing” – before a thought manifests in the mind.
Be still. Watch with awareness for the birth of a thought. Ask where it originates. How does it arise in our mind? Waiting with awareness. Watching for Consciousness to express itself as a thought – brings us to the moment of creation. A conscious expressions become available from “within” apparent nothingness. Random thoughts entering, slow. Mind ceases. Awareness fills that space, is that space. Quiet. The Zero point – between infinite potential and the birthing of a recognizable thought. There, unfiltered, our individual consciousness is transformed – to become the experiences which create our journey. The flow of creation entering our life. Discover the gift. Gratitude. The Way of trueBeing.
Sunlight in a drop of rain,
on a small branch, moving with a breeze,
clings for a moment,
gone. Clarity.
