What is possible? Unique skyscrapers, spacecraft to the planets, artificial intelligence?
What is possible? Being touched by spirit, experiencing the wonders of love, connecting to beings from the stars?
What do these experiences do for us? Many answers. But one would be to foster growth. Expanding the knowledge base of our external world results in growth. Expanding the awareness of our inner dimension, our spirit self, results in growth. Both open the doors to the unknown. We create and we discover more of what we truly are. In both cases, recognition from observation sets us on the pathway to evolution. We might walk by an old piece of metal and think nothing of it. Or we may walk by that same piece of metal and be inspired to create a building, a sculpture, or a piece of jewelry. It is the awareness of recognition that implants the seed for growth, and possibilities – or the seemingly impossible. It is our fundamental nature to grow, both internally and externally, though we may not be able to conceive of what we will become.
Conscious recognition puts us on our way toward creating a map and the ability to use it. We observe our world and establish those definitions, those points in space which will help us navigate. Definitions become dependent on our ability to recognize the subject at hand, and to what degree. The definitions used by a great composer will be different and vastly more complex than definitions by someone just learning to play an instrument.
Another implication of a definition is that it may become our truth. There are mechanical truths. There are spiritual truths. Humans find security and affirmation from what they consider to be truth. It can become an anchor in our lives that we can trust. “We have our truth and it is a definition of who we are”. Religions rely on this to define their relationship to a spiritual dimension. The solidity of consistency provides a basis for life and gives meaning. “Truth is true and can’t change”. Science too relies on definitions, yet recognizes that they are, in many cases, a temporary truth. Science works by hypothesis, a type of truth, until a new realization. Ideally, it is understood as a work in progress.
The concept of truth can be paradoxical. It can elevate us to the clarity of assuredness, but then lull us into bondage. It can define what we can build. Yet has the potential to stifle that which is possible, or that which seems to be outside a particular worldview.
There will always be individuals wishing to push the boundaries of a defined truth. And other individuals who will attempt to hold truth tightly within walls. Even a direct experience, or a sufficient amount of evidence might not be enough to break down the walls created within the mind. It is another part of the duality we witness in this world in this dimension. Clarity within one timeframe, and repression at another.
Conscious recognition requires a fundamental honesty. Many times our minds become distorted by the filters and debris that have built up over time. Seeing the world the way it is can be a daunting task, as we may discover ourselves functioning on autopilot. But we all have the innate ability to access the essence of our inner being. Check the compass, consult the map. Nothing is static, everything changes. A compass does not resist change. Its nature is defined by itself and its interaction with the world around it. A definition workable today may be useless tomorrow. That which is ignored today may be cherished tomorrow. But working toward our potential, and our true nature, Source Consciousness will always resolve the duality.
